Allentown, PA Wedding

I’ve known Jenna for a while, since we both used to work at Weis Markets. We were high school babies! It was absolutely amazing when Jenna reached out to me about photographing her wedding. When we hopped on the phone for our initial consult, it was like no time has passed! I absolutely love that feeling.

Now, let’s talk about the wedding day. First off, Jenna & Mike were getting married on July 29th… a Thursday. When I asked her about why she chose that date, she shared that it was both her Granny’s birthday and anniversary – so sweet and definitely worth celebrating. The ring also had a story – it was handmade in India, and apparently, it took a trip around the whole world before it ended up with Mike & Jenna! Mike had to propose without it because it took so long to get here! But as you look at the pictures below, you’ll see that it was definitely worth the wait.

Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works

Jenna & Mike were getting married in Allentown, PA. My husband and I scouted out the location a week before. We found [cheap] parking, some awesome places for portraits, and tried out the food at Fegley’s (btw, their soft pretzels may have changed my life). I knew the lighting, the setup, everything.

We were feeling really good about the whole thing… until the crazy weather system showed up on the wedding day. Jenna was about to begin the “getting in the dress” photos, when all of the phones in the room went off with a tornado warning. Yep, not even kidding. After talking, we all shrugged and decided not to go outside for a bit. We had originally planned to do everything outside, but that ship had sailed. We did the first look in the Renaissance Hotel ballroom, meandered around the hotel for indoor shots, and managed to get a few outside under the cover of an awning prior to the ceremony.

Once the ceremony started, sun started streaming through the windows of Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works, and it was amazing. Right after the ceremony and family formals, we stole the newlyweds for some outside, *not raining* portraits. It made all the hassle worth it!

This wedding was Jenna & Mike, from the handmade Lego bouquet, the beer mixing at the ceremony, the little details throughout the day, and the intimate vibe with family and friends, and I am so grateful we were chosen to capture the day.
