A mom-to-be in a oink and rainbow dress stands in a creek surrounded by colorful smoke

When Courtney contacted me about shooting her maternity photos, I couldn’t have been happier. I have known Courtney for quite a while, and I had even shot her BFF (check out Ashley & Tony on the blog) back in February for her maternity shoot! So, we met up on a June evening in Reading, PA to capture this new and exciting time in Courtney & Kyle’s life.

One of the similarities between the two shoots was having each other there to help with all of the behind-the-scenes stuff, like dress fluffing, smoke bomb deployment, and flower arranging. It was amazing to see. They even managed to get some behind-the-scenes photos, too. I love these two besties. They also both had absolutely stunning dresses to show off their respective baby bumps.

Now let’s talk about the differences. Ashley’s shoot was cold and snowy; she was in a long, velvet dress (which helped keep her warm). Courtney’s session, on the other hand, was on the hottest day of the year so far! I was sweating so badly, out here looking like a frizzy swamp demon. Yet somehow, Courtney and Kyle stayed looking fresh the entire time! It must be sorcery!

The heat and humidity was definitely worth it. We shot at Courtney’s mom’s house near Green Hills in Berks County, and it was such a beautiful location! We had stone, florals, and of course, water! Those water/smoke bomb shots ended up being my favorite of the day! Even though it was such a muggy day, these shots made it all worth it!

Courtney made a stunning mama-to-be, and I can’t wait to meet little baby Kendalyn!
