Honeymoon Sessions – Let’s make this a thing!

Lauren had reached out on an Ireland travel Facebook page asking for recommendations for her upcoming honeymoon trip. Having been to Ireland 3 times prior, I sent her a message with all the recommendations for my favorite town, Doolin. We realized that I would be overlapping their trip by a day, so we decided to meet up at the Cliffs of Moher for a sunset mini session!

Lauren and Carl rented a car to zoom around the country for their honeymoon, which ended up saving me (and my cousin) as the bus we were relying on to get to the Cliffs never came. (Don’t worry – the rest of our public transportation experiences went much better the rest of the week!) They graciously agreed to pick us up and drive us to the cliffs together.

If you have never been to the Cliffs of Moher, you need to schedule out a solid 2 hours to just sit and appreciate the beauty. It is spiritual experience that requires time to respect it properly. Luckily, we’ve all been there previously, so we were able to jump right into our session.

The Weather

Now, I’ll be the first person to tell you about Irish weather and it’s… unpredictableness. The Irish joke about having all 4 seasons in one day, and they aren’t kidding. I’ve experienced rainy spring weather, sunny and hot weather, and snow/hail all within 8 hours. It’s wild! The weather on this day was supposed to be lovely, but windy with dropping temps throughout the day. Good news: the forecast was correct.

By the time we got to the cliffs, it was freezing! The wind was howling, so much so that it wouldn’t have been safe to continue beyond the barriers which is where you can get some unbelievable views. No worries, though. We made some magic happen regardless!

Lauren & Carl were such good sports, and dealt with the cold like champions, all while handling me with my jet-lagged craziness. It takes a special kind of person to handle that, and Lauren & Carl did it with ease. Shout out to my cousin (Lauren Eshelman Art) for assisting me with holding bags, coats, and somehow managing to get BTS for me, too!
